The Fuengirola City Council expedites more procedures for residents through the Citizen Card
It is now possible to obtain a registration slip or pay bills, without having to make appointments and wait in line, using this device in the network of citizen ATMs. Since this tool has been in operation, the City Council has issued nearly 57,000 credentials and has had more than 4.6 million uses.
12/3/2025 – The Fuengirola City Council streamlines more procedures for residents through the Citizen Card, such as consulting and paying bills or obtaining individual and historical registration flyers. This was announced by Mayor Ana Mula, who together with the Deputy Mayor of Los Boliches, Rosa Ana Bravo, and the Councilor for Innovation, Isabel González, have tried to carry out these procedures at the citizen ATM located in the Mayor’s Office of this neighborhood.
“For some time now, we have made a resounding commitment to new technologies and innovation as a way to improve the relationship and communication between Fuengirola residents and their City Council. In this sense, our main tool is the Citizen Card application. In two years of operation, its use is completely extended among Fuengirola residents and is part of their daily lives to take the city bus for free for those registered, sign up for courses, workshops or activities, as well as to reserve public spaces, such as the paddle tennis courts of La Loma. Now, in addition, it will be possible to pay taxes and obtain a registration slip easily in the network of citizen ATMs,” explained the councilor.

In this way, any user of the Citizen Card, whether physical or virtual, will be able to go to one of the three citizen ATMs (City Hall, Mayor’s Office of Los Boliches and El Boquetillo) and presenting their mobile device (using the generate QR option) or with a physical card, withdraw their registration form or consult and pay their taxes or other pending receipts.
This new formula for carrying out procedures aims, as the top municipal official has pointed out, to offer Fuengirola residents other faster and more direct ways to formalize conventional operations, avoiding queues and waiting.
In this regard, Mula has indicated that the use of the Citizen Card is increasingly widespread among Fuengirola residents. In fact, to date the City Council has issued a total of 56,884 credentials – 33,220 virtual and 23,649 physical – and they have had more than 4.6 million uses in their almost two years of life, most of them to take the free city bus for registered residents.
Likewise, during all this time, it has also become a mechanism for residents to register for workshops, courses and municipal activities -mainly in the Youth Area-. Specifically, in 213 initiatives that have involved 5,972 applications.
It is also being widely used to reserve the paddle tennis courts at Parque de La Loma. A service that has been available for approximately one year, and that has already registered 2,982 requests.
Finally, Ana Mula has announced that those responsible for the service continue working to incorporate more functionalities to the Citizen Card. The next, as stated, will be the electronic identification of its users to allow them to access the services of the municipal Electronic Headquarters or the storage of secure payment methods.
“In summary, we continue to move towards an increasingly modern and avant-garde Fuengirola. Towards a much more direct, simple and effective communication, which in no way replaces the warmth of the close and human treatment of our employees. We continue working, hand in hand with new technologies and innovation, to make our administration increasingly more efficient,” he concluded.
