The Municipal Music Band of Fuengirola will offer its traditional tribute concert to Santa Cecilia on November 22

11/18/2025 – The Fuengirola Municipal Music Band will offer its traditional tribute concert to Santa Cecilia, patron saint of music, on Saturday, November 22, which will take place, as reported by the Councilor for Culture Rodrigo Romero, at the Peace Palace starting at 7:30 p.m. with free admission until capacity is reached.
“One of the great moments for the Municipal Band has arrived. A very special event for the musicians, because they celebrate their patron saint with a concert in which they always give their all and which they prepare with great care, with the intention of surprising the public by premiering works or reaching heights and levels of execution that demonstrate the enormous category that the musicians of our band have,” Romero highlighted.
On this occasion, as reported by the mayor, under the direction of Alfredo Alarcón Campoy and with the participation of more than a dozen guest musicians, they will offer “a concert with a complex and highly demanding repertoire.”
“The first part will include two symphonic poems: the Preludes by Franz Liszt and the Cuban Overture by George Gershwin, while the second part will be focused entirely on Symphony No. 5 in C minor Op. on Saint Cecilia’s Day, November 22 at seven thirty in the Peace Palace.”
The Municipal Band is made up of more than forty instrumentalists of a notable level and has an extensive repertoire of hundreds of concert works: preludes, overtures, fantasies, selections from operas and zarzuelas, etc. It was created at the beginning of 1962, first as a school of Music Theory and Musical Theory and, later, with the acquisition of instrumental music, as a music band. More than 50 years cover the journey of a musical collective that is becoming a benchmark on the Costa del Sol in recent years.
The level of quality achieved by the Municipal Band in recent years has allowed highly complex pieces reserved for elite groups to be incorporated into the usual repertoire. Both directors (Patrick Van den Eynde [Q.E.P.D.]Cathy Kotoun, Hans de Doelder, Antonio Ariza, María del Mar Muñoz) as individual performers (Antonio Manzano, Jane Montón, Alejandro Maroto, José Puyana, Gerardo López, Mª Ángeles Castro, Francisco Doblas) and collectives (Alcazaba Saxophone Quartet, Apollo de Wissenkerke Music Band [Holanda]) and arrangers and composers (David Medrano, Juan Carlos Campello, José Mª Machuca).
