10/8/2025 – The coast of Fuengirola will host the XXXIII ‘Un sol de ciudad’ Sport Fishing Contest on Sunday, November 2, with important prizes for the best classified. This was announced today by the Councilor for Sports, Julio Rodríguez, and the president of the ‘La Baila’ Fishermen’s Club, Dionisio Palencia. The registration period will be open until the day of the test and participants, in addition to the registration price (35 euros), must contribute their grain of solidarity by donating a kilo of non-perishable food.

“We are very proud to be able to talk about the continuity of one of the oldest events in the world of sport in Fuengirola, it is a very deep-rooted tournament that this year reaches its thirty-third edition thanks to the work, effort and enthusiasm put in by the ‘La Baila’ Fishermen’s Club,” highlighted Rodríguez, noting that “I encourage everyone to participate in this fishing contest, to enjoy the moments of coexistence and They can share experiences with fishermen who come from different parts of Andalusia. In addition to enjoying the best sports venue in our city, which is our coast.”

The deadline to sign up is still open, either through the Facebook profile of the La Baila Fishing Club or in the fishing shops of Fuengirola and the surrounding municipalities. The registration price is 35 euros plus a kilo of non-perishable food.

For his part, Dionisio Palencia thanked “the contest will begin on November 2 at seven in the morning in the form of surf casting, fishing from the shore, until twelve thirty in the morning. It will be on the Castillo beach and we expect a lot of participation with fishermen from Almería, Cádiz, Granada…”.

Regarding the prizes, Palencia highlighted that “the winner will get 1,000 euros in cash, 500 euros for the second place and there will also be prizes of 100 euros for the best lady, the Baila mayor and a ham for the biggest piece.”

The concentration of fishermen will be at six in the morning and then the drawing for positions will be held. The contest will begin at 7:00 a.m. and will continue until 12:30 p.m. The weighing of the catches will be carried out at the end of the contest in a booth at the Fuengirola Fairgrounds.
