Fuengirola City Council reinforces road safety with the creation of five new high steps to reduce speed
The new Badenes are being built these days and are located at points analyzed by the Local Police based on the influx of pedestrians and the rolled traffic
9/19/2025 – The City of Fuengirola has reinforced road safety with the creation of five new high steps to reduce speed. It is one of the actions that the government team has launched to shield the proper functioning of the traffic and the interaction of the vehicles shot with the pedestrians in the city and that adds to the intensification of the comprehensive police controls and the increase in road signaling, which are already carried out.

“We continue working to reinforce road safety in Fuengirola. It is a continuous effort that we have intensified in recent months. Measures such as the increase in vertical signage, the intensification of police traffic controls, the installation of fixed radars or the creation of high pedestrian crossings itself,” explained Mayor Ana Mula.
The new Badenes will be located at the most suitable strategic points, indicated by the Local Police after the elaboration of a study on the influx of pedestrians and the traffic shot in the city. Specifically, on Avenida de Mijas intersection with Sevilla Street; On the road to Coín, at the height of Francisco Merino street; in Malaga street intersection with Blas de Lezo street; on the Paseo Marítimo, at the height of the Yaramar Hotel; and on Jesús Captive Avenue number 49. The objective of this action is to force traffic calm, whose maximum speed is set at 30 kilometers per hour.
Likewise, the corresponding vertical signage will also be installed immediately before the pedestrian crossing, which will also be provided with the necessary night lighting for a correct visualization by both pedestrians and drivers.
The intervention is being executed by the Probisa company and has a budget of 41,957.46 euros. The deadline for making them a reality is 30 days and the work began last Monday at the five points mentioned above.
Together with this action, it should be remembered that the Local Police has intensified the organization of random comprehensive controls in different parts of the municipality. These police operations, in addition to measuring speed, inspect issues such as breathalyzer, drug use, belt use and child retention systems, as well as devices that produce distractions at the wheel.
