8/2025 – The Fuengirola City Council will incorporate five new high steps into different parts of the city to reduce the speed of circulation and reinforce road safety. It is one of the actions that the government team has launched to shield road safety in the city and that adds to the intensification of comprehensive police controls and the reinforcement of road signaling, which have already been carried out.

The deadline for submitting offers for the award of the works ended yesterday, with two companies that choose to carry them out. The new Badenes will be located at the most suitable strategic points, indicated by the Local Police after the elaboration of a study on the influx of pedestrians and the traffic shot in the city.

Specifically, they will be located on Avenida de Mijas intersection with Sevilla Street; On the road to Coín, at the height of Francisco Merino street; in Malaga street intersection with Blas de Lezo street; on the Paseo Marítimo, at the height of the Yaramar Hotel; and on Jesús Captive Avenue number 49. The objective of this action is to force traffic calm, whose maximum speed is set at 30 kilometers per hour.

Likewise, the corresponding vertical signage will also be installed immediately before the pedestrian crossing, which will also be provided with the necessary night lighting for a correct visualization by both pedestrians and drivers.

Together with this action, it should be remembered that the Local Police has intensified the organization of random comprehensive controls in different parts of the municipality. These police operations, in addition to measuring speed, inspect issues such as breathalyzer, drug use, belt use and child retention systems, as well as devices that produce distractions at the wheel.
