3/20/2026 – The mayor of Fuengirola, Ana Mula, today highlighted the scope of the free Municipal Training Plan, which will improve access opportunities to the labor market for more than 700 unemployed people in the municipality. The councilor made these statements during her visit to three of the courses currently underway, in which 45 Fuengirola residents participate.

Specifically, Mula has visited the Hairdressing and Customer Service training activities, which are taught at the Mayor’s Office of Los Boliches, as well as the English course, which takes place at the Mayor’s Office of El Boquetillo. During the tour, he was able to see first-hand the development of the classes and the high degree of involvement of the students, made up of 15 participants in each course.

In Los Boliches, the ‘Hairdressing Care and Procedures’ courses are being taught, with a duration of 150 hours, and ‘Customer Service’, of 75 hours, both from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The first offers comprehensive training on professional care in hairdressing salons and basic techniques in the sector, while the second is aimed at providing students with essential skills for customer service and assistance in professional environments.

For its part, the ‘English’ course, lasting 90 hours, is taught in El Boquetillo and aims to improve the oral and written comprehension and expression of the language in both everyday and work situations, a skill that is increasingly in demand in the job market.

During her speech, the mayor stressed that “this free Municipal Training Plan is a key tool to facilitate job placement, since it offers practical training adapted to the real needs of the productive fabric.” In this sense, he added that “we continue working so that our neighbors have more and better professional opportunities.”

The municipal program includes a total of 49 courses and workshops distributed in seven large thematic areas: Computer Science and New Technologies; Image, Sound and Communications; Languages and Culture; Hospitality, Construction and Services; Equality and Personal Wellbeing; Urban Culture and Sports; and Arts and Crafts. All training actions are free and are aimed at unemployed people in the municipality.

Among the proposals included in this plan are courses such as office automation, generative artificial intelligence, social media marketing, masonry, electricity, gardening, cooking, customer service, as well as workshops on psychosocial skills, equality, personal well-being or cultural and sports activities, among others.

Registration for the Municipal Training Plan courses must be done in person at the offices of the Department of Training and Job Creation, on the fourth floor of the Los Boliches Mayor’s Office.

With this initiative, Fuengirola City Council reaffirms its commitment to training as a fundamental axis to promote the employability and personal development of its citizens.
