1/20/2026 – The realist painting exhibition ‘Dreams and Paths’ by Malaga artist Simón Pizarro will open to the public this Friday, January 23, at 8:00 p.m., at the Manuel Delgado Perea House of Culture and can be visited freely and free of charge until next February 20. This was announced by the Councilor for Culture, Rodrigo Romero.

“The Malaga artist Simón Pizarro is going to give us a good example at the House of Culture of his introspective realism and his very refined oil painting technique, which serves as a vehicle to paint authentic poetry in movement of our sea, our countryside and the contemplation that he makes of our environment,” Romero highlighted, noting that “we are very happy to be able to have his exhibition in Fuengirola because I am sure that the citizens will like it a lot.”

In Simón Pizarro’s seascapes, the viewer is captured by a chromatic domain of blues and emeralds that evoke the light of the Mediterranean and invite you to contemplate it. Influenced by Friedrich’s German romanticism, he accompanies his landscapes with characters who, with their backs to the observer, act as bridges to horizons loaded with symbolism.

His still lifes are faithful records of reality that are supported by balanced compositions suggesting a leisurely contemplation of the idyllic environment. He has held numerous exhibitions in galleries throughout Spain, painted posters for various celebration institutions and lent his paintings for the sets of television series.

Jesús Simón Pizarro was born in Monroy (Cáceres) and currently lives in Alhaurín de la Torre. His passion for painting began in 1994, when he left his commercial activity in the automobile sector. From the beginning it was an unexpected crush. Motivated by his wife and the paintings of the German romantic, Friedrich, he attended the classes of the magnificent painter Robles Muñoz and, since then, he has dedicated much of his life to perfecting his technique and developing his own style.

He has studied in Madrid, Cheste (Valencia), Seville and Malaga, obtaining the titles of Diploma in Teaching and Bachelor of Biology from the University of Malaga. He has also had the opportunity to expand his studies in Limerick (Ireland), and Southampton and Cambridge (England) with teachers from dozens of different countries who have made him more tolerant, plural and creative.

His paintings talk about what surrounds him: Landscapes, seascapes, still lifes, flowers, portraits of the people who are close to him and who have accompanied him along the way. He loves to look for beauty in what is close to him and enjoy its perspective and observation.

Many times, in his landscape paintings, there are people who, from the same environment, invite the viewer to walk with them or sit next to them and share the beauty that surrounds them. He is also a friend of windows. Those that have history, that have wounds or traces of others who already lived there and have abandoned them. But its structure, its energy and its vitality remain and are present in his paintings. It gives strength to the real or imaginary landscape that it represents through them.
