11/17/2025 – Fuengirola City Council has granted a total of 135 municipal grants for university transport, for a global amount of 113,500 euros. This was announced today by the councilors of Finance and Youth, Rosa Ana Bravo and Isaac Vargas, respectively, who have detailed that these scholarships include a basic amount, between 400 and 800 euros, and an additional supplement, of 100 to 300 euros, intended for students with the best academic records.
Bravo explained that “from the Treasury Department, in coordination with the Departments of Youth and Social Services, we have already proceeded to receive these aids. In total, 135 scholarships have been paid for a total value of 113,500 euros.” Furthermore, he highlighted the municipal effort made to streamline the management: “The Local Government Board approved the aid last Wednesday and, on Monday, it was already received so that young people could have access to this financial support as soon as possible.”
For his part, the Youth Councilor, Isaac Vargas, has highlighted the area’s commitment to the municipality’s university students: “Our objective is to facilitate the expense of traveling to Malaga during the academic year to study at the University.”
Vargas has also highlighted the City Council’s commitment to improving communication with youth. “We try to be as close to them as possible, which is why we enable channels such as our Instagram account, which allows them to easily access information about this procedure. Thanks to this, 135 young people have benefited from the aid this year,” he noted.
Regarding the requirements to qualify for these subsidies, the councilor explained that it was necessary to “be registered in Fuengirola, be enrolled at the University of Malaga and meet a series of economic and property criteria depending on the situation of each family.”
Finally, Vargas congratulated “all the young people who have received this aid” and thanked the collaboration of the Treasury and Social Welfare areas, “whose work has been fundamental to review the files and approve the scholarships in accordance with the established requirements.”
