11/10/2025 – The Fuengirola City Council has increased the allocations for cleaning public roads. These include a sweeper, two light vans and 30 electric handcarts with separate waste collection to improve ease of use for operators and efficiency in the service. The total investment, borne in part by European funds and the Malaga Provincial Council, is around 375,000 euros.

“Fuengirola is a city in which the cleanliness and order of public spaces stands out. Many Fuengirola residents are not aware of this. But cleanliness is one of the main aspects that our visitors highlight when evaluating our city as a destination and to repeat as a vacation spot. And it is, among other things, due to the enormous investment effort and the extraordinary work carried out by our workers. In this sense, the renewal and acquisition of material means is constant,” explained the mayor Ana Mula, who presented today the news together with the councilor of Cleaning, Carmen Díaz, and the provincial deputy and also councilor in the local institution, Francisco José Martín.
Not in vain, part of the new acquisitions, the sweeper (229,295 euros) and one of the light vans (33,746 euros), have been financed by the supra-municipal entity. The other vehicle (40,777 euros) has been paid for with European funds. And the 30 electric handcarts – at a rate of 2,400 euros per unit – correspond to the investment that the service concessionaire company has made as a result of signing the new contract.
Regarding these last utility vehicles, Mula has highlighted that their traction is electric to improve ease of use for operators, as well as greater efficiency in the street cleaning service. Likewise, these carry containers for all waste fractions, favoring recycling and thus achieving more sustainable collection.
Likewise, also with funds from the Malaga Provincial Council (67,956 euros), the City Council has renovated fifteen mouths of ecological paper and cardboard islands. Specifically, on Avenida de las Salinas, Plaza González Anaya, Avenida de Los Boliches, Calle Málaga, Calle Lanzarote, Avenida Jesús Cautivo and Calle Navarra.
“Actions that show that we continue working to have the different services updated and sized so that Fuengirola continues to shine also for the cleanliness of its public spaces,” the councilor concluded.
