9/15/2025 – The Avenida de las Gaviotas will be completely cut to traffic during the day of Wednesday, by the work of demolition and clearing of the pedestrian catwalk, within the municipal project of improvement and modernization of this route. This has been reported in this regard.

«Next Wednesday, September 17, the demolition and dismantling of the Gaviotas bridge will proceed, so the 340 National Highway will remain cut in both directions between the Torreblanca roundabout and the sun’s roundabout, from 7:00 to 4:00 p.m. The action is part of the road improvement plan and a device of deviation has been prepared that is already available, together with the detailed planning of the work. This information has been transferred to the affected educational centers, to facilitate the organization of access during the day. We appreciate the collaboration of all citizens, ”González explained.

For its part, the mayor of Urbanismo has indicated that the work was awarded to Marvel Construction and Quality SL, with a budget of 106,843.46 euros and an execution period of 39 days. In addition, he recalled that “this infrastructure was built decades ago to facilitate the pedestrian crossing over the old National 340. With the integration of this route into the urban framework and its transformation into avenue, pedestrian crossings were enabled at the level, the disuse structure leaving. Its demolition responds to criteria of functionality and adaptation to the current environment, since it does not fulfill its function, it was time to withdraw it. »

To conclude, María Hernández recalled that “this is an action that neighbors had been requesting for a long time, and rightly, since the infrastructure has lost its usefulness. Its withdrawal will also allow the sidewalk and improve both the image and the pedestrian traffic in the area. So, we ask the schools, neighbors and companies in the environment to plan alternative access during the works and appeal to the precaution and understanding to minimize the inconvenience ».
