The recital, included in the Community Concerts series, will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will feature the participation of the prestigious pianist Zhiqiao Zhang as soloist.
10/6/2026 – The Peace Palace of Fuengirola will be the scene on June 13 of a new event with classical music by Iberian Sinfonietta. The concert, integrated into the Community Concerts series, will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will have free admission until capacity is reached.
The Councilor for Culture of the Fuengirola City Council, Rodrigo Romero, has presented this new cultural proposal, highlighting the artistic quality of an initiative already consolidated in municipal programming. “We have good news for lovers of classical music: on June 13, the Iberian Sinfonietta Community Concerts return to the Peace Palace, directed by Juan Paulo Gómez, who for years have been bringing great works of the classical repertoire to the public through programs of extraordinary quality. On this occasion, in addition, we will have the presence of the prestigious pianist Zhiqiao Zhang as a guest soloist,” said the mayor.
The program will be headed by the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 4 in G major, Op. 58, by Ludwig van Beethoven, one of the most emblematic works of the German composer, and by the Symphony No. 4 in C minor, by Franz Schubert, considered one of the most outstanding pieces of his symphonic production.
Zhiqiao Zhang
To perform Beethoven’s work, Iberian Sinfonietta will feature the participation of the Chinese pianist Zhiqiao Zhang, one of the most prominent emerging figures on the international scene. Among his numerous recognitions are the First Prize of the VI Fujairah International Piano Competition, the Mauro Monopoli Prize, the Giulio Rospigliosi International Competition or the gold medal of the Carles & Sofia International Piano Competition.
Born into a family of musicians, Zhang began his musical training from an early age. Throughout his career he has performed in prestigious concert halls in China and the United States, such as Jordan Hall in Boston, the Grand Theater in Shenzhen and the He Luting Concert Hall in Shanghai.
In addition to his brilliant career as a soloist, he develops an intense activity as a chamber musician, composer, improviser and orchestra director. His artistic versatility has also led him to stand out as an organist, tenor soloist and choral singer, participating in contemporary music projects and collaborating with prominent international musical institutions.
In the academic field, he completed his studies at the New England Conservatory in Boston on a full scholarship, later obtaining a Master of Music with honors. He is currently studying the Master in Specialized Musical Performance (Soloist Diploma) at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana under the direction of the renowned pianist Roberto Plano.
For its part, the concert will be directed by Juan Paulo Gómez, musical and artistic director of Iberian Sinfonietta and the Provincial Youth Orchestra of Málaga. With more than three decades of professional experience, Gómez began his career as a director at the age of 17 and has developed intense artistic and pedagogical work both in Spain and abroad.
Especially committed to the training of young performers, he has promoted numerous educational projects and has directed national and international orchestral formations. Since 2006 he has combined his concert activity with teaching as a professor of Orchestral Conducting at the Málaga Superior Conservatory of Music.
With this new performance, the Community Concerts series reaffirms its objective of bringing classical music to all audiences through free concerts of high artistic quality, consolidating itself as one of the most appreciated cultural proposals by music fans in Fuengirola.
