5/20/2026 – The Juan Gómez Juanito pavilion in Fuengirola will host the Final of the Andalusian Promesas Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship from June 5 to 7, one of the most notable events in the regional calendar of this discipline, which will bring together a total of 2,576 athletes and 352 technicians from 147 clubs from across the Andalusian community.
This was announced this morning by the Sports Councilor, Julio Rodríguez; the president of the Andalusian Gymnastics Federation, Ángelo Madroñal; and the president of the Fuengirola Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, José García, who have highlighted the sporting, social and economic importance that this event will have for the city.
In this sense, Madroñal explained that the choice of Fuengirola as the venue responds “to the great work that both the Club and the City Council have been doing, together with the magnificent facilities of the Juanito pavilion and the excellent experience of previous editions.” Thus, he pointed out that, among the numerous candidacies presented to host this championship, the Andalusian Federation has once again trusted the city “for its organizational capacity and for the close collaboration it maintains with Andalusian gymnastics.”
Economic impact
The federation president has also highlighted the important economic impact that the celebration of this competition will have on the city, which is estimated at more than 1.5 million euros, as it will mobilize “about three thousand participants, including athletes and technicians, and more than ten thousand people a day, including the public and companions.” In this sense, he has indicated that the estimated economic return for the city, only in living expenses and without accounting for accommodation, will exceed half a million euros per day.
Madroñal also recalled that Fuengirola has previously hosted important events related to this discipline, as well as several concentrations of the Andalusian Sports Technique Plan, showing his satisfaction “for returning to a city that always responds in an exemplary manner.”
For his part, José García has shown the pride of the Fuengirola Rhythmic Gymnastics Club for being able to organize an event of these characteristics in the city again. “All this is possible thanks to the support of the Federation, the City Council and the efforts of our gymnasts and the club’s families,” he noted.
The championship will feature the participation of 147 Andalusian clubs, including the Fuengirola Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, which will compete as host with a total of 50 gymnasts.
To conclude, Julio Rodríguez highlighted that this competition “replaces Fuengirola as a reference in the organization of large sporting events, capable of generating an important economic and promotional impact for the city, in addition to offering the opportunity to enjoy the talent of the best Andalusian gymnasts at home.” The mayor added that this type of event “represents an important boost for both local sports and the business and tourism fabric of the municipality.”
