Fuengirola City Council opens the application period for University Transport Scholarships

4/5/2026 – Fuengirola City Council has opened the application period for University Transport Scholarships, which can be processed until May 26. This was announced this morning by Mayor Ana Mula together with the Youth Councilor, Isaac Vargas, who have indicated that interested parties can request more information or resolve questions by calling 952461842 or sending an email to youth@fuengirola.org.

“From the Department of Youth we announce that the application period for aid for university transport is now open, financial aid that the City Council makes available to all young people from Fuengirola who study at the University of Malaga (UMA). It is an economic incentive that is granted in a competitive competition format, for which certain academic, property and economic requirements must be met that are marked in the call,” explained the councilor.

In this regard, those interested must be registered in the town for at least one year, be a UMA student during the current 2025/2026 academic year, not be a beneficiary of a scholarship from the Ministry of Education and obtain a minimum score of 40 points on the scale of the call that is established based on academic, property and economic requirements.

The budget for this call is 130,000 euros and the aid will range between 100 and 300 euros for the additional amount, 400 euros for the basic amount (50%) and 800 euros for the complete amount (100%). In this sense, Mula recalled that last year, the City Council allocated 113,500 euros to 135 students from Fuengirola who benefited from these transport aid.

In this way, interested parties can request these municipal aid by submitting their application, either in person through the City Hall Entry Registry or through the mayoral offices of Los Boliches and El Boquetillo, as well as in the Youth Area, which is located in the Colores building; or electronically, through the Electronic Headquarters of the Fuengirola City Council, in the catalog of procedures. Likewise, it can also be completed at the registration assistance office, at any Post Office and at diplomatic representations or consular offices.

The documentation that must be presented will be the completed application itself, a photocopy of the DNI or NIE of each member of the family unit, the Family Book, a copy of the account number and the University registration.
