The City Council presents its new tourist portal ‘Somos Fuengirola’ to show the world the identity of the city
In addition to a promotional showcase, the website is a modern tool for tourism management, analysis and communication, based on dynamic content and data measurement.
7/14/2026 – Fuengirola City Council has presented the new official Tourism portal, www.somosfuengirola.esa digital platform conceived to show the world the city that is Fuengirola: open, Mediterranean, familiar, international, dynamic and deeply proud of its roots. The Councilor for Tourism, José Luis Ponce, and the Councilor for Innovation, Isabel González, have highlighted that this new website “is not simply a tourism page, but a new way of telling about Fuengirola”, emphasizing that the objective is not only to attract visitors, but to invite them to know, respect and integrate into the local identity.
“Fuengirola is a tourist city, but it is much more than a vacation destination. It is a city with history, with traditions, with neighborhoods full of life, with a very special way of welcoming those who come from outside and, above all, with people who are the true protagonists of everything we are,” said Ponce.
The new portal was born under the brand Somos Fuengirola, a name that summarizes the spirit of the project: showing the city from an authentic, close and proud perspective. The website is not limited to presenting classic tourist resources, but also incorporates content linked to the Fuengirola way of living, its customs, traditions, gastronomy, neighborhoods, events, beaches, heritage, urban art, routes, family spaces and agenda throughout the year.
In this sense, one of the differentiating elements of the portal is its commitment to more inclusive tourism. The website invites the visitor to get to know the city from the inside, to understand its customs and to live it in a more respectful way and connected to the local identity.
Along these lines, the portal incorporates a section of local guides, where neighbors and people linked to the city share their particular vision of Fuengirola, their recommendations, favorite corners and personal experiences. The tourist blog will also grow continuously with weekly articles, itineraries, curiosities, useful information and proposals to discover the city from different perspectives.
The platform is supported by solutions from Simpleview/Granicus Destinations, a company specialized in technology for tourist destinations and destination marketing organizations. Its ecosystem includes tools such as CMS, CRM, Data & Insights, Digital Asset Management, DMS, Email Marketing, event management and tourism marketing solutions, used by more than 900 destinations internationally.
The use of a tourist CMS allows the City Council to manage the contents of the website in a flexible and orderly manner, update sections, incorporate new articles, highlight events, create thematic proposals and adapt the information to the needs of each moment. This turns the portal into a dynamic tool, capable of evolving at the same pace as the city itself.
For its part, the integration of tourism CRM solutions and data analysis will allow progress towards more intelligent promotion, based on knowledge of visitor behavior. The website will make it easier to monitor which content arouses the greatest interest, from which markets the information is consulted, which experiences generate the most attention and which trends can help guide future promotional actions.
Space for professionals
The portal also includes a space aimed at tourism professionals, designed to offer useful information to the sector, reinforce coordination and facilitate a more strategic vision of the destination. This professional dimension is added to the most visible part for the visitor, who will find information about beaches, events, accommodation, restaurants, accessibility, transport, tourist offices, family activities, routes, heritage, nightlife and trip planning.
“This website helps us show the world the city we are: a modern, open, welcoming, proud and lively city. A city that is not only visited, but felt,” concluded the mayor of Innovation, Isabel González.
