The Fuengirola City Council promotes its blue heritage with the creation of a Network of Marine Trails
It is made up of seven routes that can be done underwater, diving or snorkelling, or on the surface, practicing paddle surfing or kayaking.
All of them are collected on the web trailsmarinos.es and soon on the new Tourism website
07/02/2026. The Fuengirola City Council promotes its blue heritage with the creation of a Network of Marine Trails on its coastline. This is a measure aimed at promoting knowledge of the Fuengirola seabed, as well as offering visitors a new incentive to visit the city. The mayor Ana Mula, together with the Councilor for Tourism, José Luis Ponce, and the Councilor for Sports, Julio Rodríguez, has presented this project in the company of young students from the Paddle Surf school and its authors.
“The sea is the greatest treasure we have in our city. It is our reason for being as a city and one of the aspects that makes it so desired. We have one of the most beautiful promenades in the world and one of the best beaches in the world. But what most of us do not know is its interior: the most beautiful and diverse seabed in our environment. And, precisely, this general lack of knowledge is what we want to change with this initiative that we present today: the Sea Trails,” explained the councilor.
In this way, the network is made up of seven routes: two diving routes in the area around the Yesera shallows and Castillo beach; three snorkelling sessions, at the Carvajal breakwater, the Torreblanca reef and Castillo beach; and two rowing (paddle surf and kayak), which are the distances between Los Boliches and Carvajal, as well as Castillo beach and Los Boliches.
All of them are referenced on the web trailsmarinos.esand very soon, on the new website of the Tourism Area, which will be presented in the coming days. They also incorporate photographs, aerial videos and underwater videos, which show the Fuengirola coastline from a new perspective: from above, from the surface and from the bottom of the sea. The Marine Trails include information about the species, the characteristics of each area, the rules of respect for the environment, safety advice and the best time to enjoy each trail, as well as the layout itself in the Google Maps application.

“The objective is to offer Fuengirola residents the opportunity to discover natural wealth, and at the same time, promote ourselves as a blue municipality and activate a new tourist attraction. Because under our waters there is life. There are species, there are funds, there are areas of interest, there are spaces that are part of our blue heritage and that deserve to be known, valued and protected,” concluded Ana Mula.
