The 1st Fuengirola City Triathlon is close to 300 participants with one week left until registration closes

The test is included in the XXVI Provincial Triathlon Circuit and will be held in the supersprint mode (400 meters swimming, 7.5 km by bicycle and 2.5 km running). The City Council recommends planning trips on the morning of Saturday, May 16 and remembers that urban transport will vary its route between 8:00 and 11:00 a.m.

5/5/2026 – Fuengirola will celebrate next Saturday, May 16, the first edition of the ‘Ciudad de Fuengirola’ Triathlon, a sporting event that is already close to 300 participants with one week left before registration closes. This was announced this morning by the Councilors for Sports and Mobility, Julio Rodríguez and Isabel González, together with the race director and coordinator of Touring Sport, José Horno.

“We are very excited to be able to celebrate for the first time in Fuengirola an event of this nature that will already bring together 294 participants, although there will be more because registration is open until May 11,” said Rodríguez, who recalled that the race will be held in Supersprint format, “with accessible distances of 400 meters swimming, 7.5 kilometers by bicycle and 2.5 kilometers running, which are perfect for people who are starting out in the Triathlon.”

In this sense, the mayor explained that the swimming segment will take place on Las Gaviotas beach, in Los Boliches, while the cycling section will run along an urban circuit that will run along the Paseo Marítimo, Churruca street, Condes de San Isidro avenue, Ramón y Cajal avenue and Los Boliches avenue. The foot race will take place entirely along the Paseo Marítimo.

For her part, Isabel González has offered recommendations on mobility to neighbors. “Between eight and eleven in the morning it will not be possible to circulate on the route of the circuit along which the test will take place, so we recommend avoiding trips or planning them in advance to avoid circulating in that area.” In terms of parking, the mayor has recommended that participants park their vehicles on Avenida de Andalucía, which has numerous parking spaces and is a short bike ride from Plaza Pedro Cuevas.

The Mobility councilor also recalled that the bus service will change its usual route on the morning of May 16, avoiding circulation in the area where the test will take place. “Prior to the race, the route and bus schedules for that day will be informed through the mobility application,” said González.

For his part, the race director, José Horno, recalled that starting on Thursday, May 14, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., race numbers can begin to be collected in Plaza Pedro Cuevas, as well as on Friday the 15th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on the same Saturday, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
