This action will involve the creation of 56 new parking spaces for vehicles, as well as the renovation of Flor de Loto Street. The planning provides for the full use of the 27,000 square meters of space in this facility.

4/20/2026 – The Fuengirola City Council has awarded the works of the first phase of the ‘Sports Mountain’, as announced today by the mayor Ana Mula together with the mayor of Strategic Infrastructures, Rocío Arriaga. As a result of this action, 56 new parking spaces for vehicles will be made available to Fuengirola residents, as well as the remodeling of Flor de Loto street.

The action went out to tender on January 23 and up to seven companies in the civil construction sector have participated in the process. The winning company turned out to be Maracof SL with an amount of 891,516.41 euros (about 100,000 euros less than what was foreseen in the tender budget) and an execution period of 110 days, which is 39 days less than what was stipulated in the specifications.

The intervention consists of the remodeling of Flor de Loto Street (annexed to the park) and the creation of a parking area with capacity for 56 vehicles.

In later phases, the approach is to create three areas or rings where different sports can be practiced and that have attractions such as a new interactive goal. There will also be multipurpose fields, a climbing wall, calisthenics equipment, children’s attractions and bio-healthy facilities.

Likewise, the designer has planned to expand the shade and rest spaces with vegetation and awnings, walking and recreation areas for families with small children, as well as picnic areas. These interventions will be carried out in subsequent phases, leading to the renovation and full use of the 27,000 square meters of which this facility consists.

The renovation of the current Parque de la Cantera into ‘La Montaña del Deporte’ is a project aimed at reserving recreational areas in the eastern part of the city and which has followed the following trajectory. In 2022, the City Council called an ideas competition, to which eight proposals were submitted. Shortly after, the winner was announced, with a completely innovative design. After the drafting process of the project is put out to public tender, first, and that of the work itself, this year, work will begin in the coming weeks.
