4/14/2026 – The Councilor for Families, Equality and Social Welfare, responsible for the Senior Citizens Area, Cristina Bornao, presented at a press conference an Autoshiatsu workshop aimed at older people in the municipality, an initiative aimed at promoting the physical and emotional well-being of this group. The activity will be held on April 22, at the Hogar de Puebla Lucía, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This proposal, promoted by the Senior Citizens Area, seeks to offer practical self-care tools that contribute to improving the quality of life of the participants.

Autoshiatsu is a Japanese technique based on the application of pressure with fingers on specific points on the body. This acupressure method allows you to relieve tension, reduce stress and promote circulation, being especially useful for treating muscle discomfort in areas such as the neck, back or head.

During his speech, Bornao highlighted that “it is a simple and effective tool that helps older people become aware of their own body, promoting healthy habits that they can apply in their daily lives in just a few minutes.”

The workshop will include an introduction to Shiatsu and its benefits as an active maintenance method, as well as conscious breathing techniques aimed at calming the mind and nervous system. In addition, attendees will learn basic pressure exercises, stretching and gentle mobilization, along with a practical Autoshiatsu routine focused on the head, neck, shoulders, arms and legs. The session will conclude with a question period to resolve doubts.

Registration will remain open until capacity is reached and can be done at the Senior Citizens Area, from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. With this initiative, the City Council continues to reinforce its commitment to active aging and the comprehensive well-being of the city’s older people.
