The Fuengirola City Council reinforces security during Holy Week with a Special Plan during its celebration

The Local Security Board agrees to create special agent services from Dolores Friday to Easter Sunday, with special attention to processions. There will be speed, alcohol and drug controls to avoid negligent driving and the Local Police will intensify their presence on foot in commercial and busy areas.

3/24/2026 – Fuengirola City Council will reinforce security during Holy Week with a Special Plan during its celebration. Mayor Ana Mula held a meeting of the Local Security Board where the device that will make up this planning was agreed, which will provide around 140 extraordinary services of Local Police agents between Dolores Friday and Easter Sunday.

“Fuengirola is a safe and orderly city. Everything in terms of security is organized and planned to guarantee the effectiveness of the measures put in place. Likewise, together with the National Police, which will increase its forces and will put emphasis on the prevention of petty crime, we study, analyze and plan each of the key moments of this celebration to respond to any incident that may occur during its development,” said the councilor.

In this way, throughout the days there will be an increase in police presence, not only during and around the processions, but in the rest of the city. Thus, there will be shifts of up to 40 police officers on the festive days of this celebration.

On the other hand, as Mula has highlighted, the local security body will carry out random traffic controls in different parts of the city. The intervening agents will audit the speed with mobile radar, as well as whether the drivers are behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol or drugs to avoid improper driving.

All these measures are part of the Security Plan that the mayor herself presented, at the end of last year, with the idea of reinforcing order in the town. To these we must add the video surveillance system – with about 200 cameras distributed in different areas of the city -, the presence of officers on foot, mainly in commercial and high-traffic areas, the intensification of public lighting in leisure areas through the Public Services Control System, the presence of lifeguards on the beaches – from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. -, the control of personal mobility vehicles, as well as the awareness of speed, incompatibility of alcohol and drug consumption while driving and proper use of the scooter in municipal media.

Finally, Ana Mula has asked her neighbors and visitors to enjoy this time of year in the city, the prelude to the tourist season, but also with responsibility and civility.

“I insist: we are a safe and orderly city. And to continue being that way, we all also have to do our part as we always do: carrying out exemplary behavior. And if something happens, our police and firefighters will be there to intervene with their usual professionalism and vocation for service. I encourage you to live a great Easter. To enjoy every corner of our city and all our diverse and rich offer of establishments. And do it with the tranquility and joy that characterizes us as a people,” he concluded.
