Neighborhood councilors reported more than 2,300 incidents in 2025 through the Gecor app
The most numerous incidents have corresponded to road intervention services, electrical service, maintenance of green areas and cleaning
2/20/2026 -The Councilor for Neighborhoods and Citizen Action of the Fuengirola City Council, Isabel Moreno, held a press conference today to present the management balance for the year 2025, highlighting the reinforcement of the figure of the neighborhood councillor, the increase in direct attention to residents and the processing of a total of 2,356 incidents through the Gecor ‘Together Fuengirola Avanza’ application.
One of the main tasks of the neighborhood councilors is the detection and processing of incidents through the Gecor “Together Fuengirola Avanza” app. During 2025, a total of 2,356 notices have been registered, a figure that, as Moreno stressed, “demonstrates the constant commitment of councilors to the maintenance and improvement of their neighborhoods.” The most requested services have been road intervention, electrical service, maintenance of green areas and cleaning.
The councilor has pointed out that cleanliness and public safety are two of the aspects that focus a large part of the daily work of the neighborhood councilors. In terms of cleaning, since the beginning of the legislature, the councilors have maintained direct communication with those responsible for the concessionaire company through a neighborhood chat, which makes it possible to speed up the response and improve the provision of the service. In terms of security, there is continuous coordination with the Local Police, reporting situations detected during visits and relying on proximity patrols, in charge of guaranteeing security in each neighborhood.
Support for municipal campaigns
Neighborhood councilors also play a key role in disseminating campaigns promoted by other councillors, informing and supporting both residents and merchants. Among the initiatives supported in 2025 are the Green Flag of Ecovidrio, Outlet and Promotion Fuengirola, ‘This Christmas your purchases in Fuengirola have a prize’, ‘Live Fuengirola with Love’, ‘In Spring your purchases in Fuengirola have a prize’ and the door-to-door cardboard collection campaign.
Neighbors can contact their councilors both in person – as they visit the neighborhoods several days a week in the morning and afternoon – and through the specific email for each area.
The current distribution of neighborhood councilors is as follows: Miramar Sur, Javier García Lara (miramarsur@fuengirola.org); Miramar Norte, José Luis Ponce (miramarnorte@fuengirola.org); Virgen del Carmen, Isabel González (barriovirgendelcarmen@fuengirola.org); Center, Cristina Bornao (centro@fuengirola.org); San Cayetano, Isaac Vargas (sancayetano@fuengirola.org); Boquetillo / P.
