The Fuengirola City Council renews the underground water infrastructure on Reyes Católicos street
A chronic breakdown of part of the pipelines was causing problems in its operation that affected several residents in the area. The Government team put out to tender and processed this action immediately, as promised to the residents in a recent meeting, to find a solution to this situation.
10/15/2025 – Fuengirola City Council is renewing the underground water infrastructure on Reyes Católicos street, in the Las Chozas neighborhood. The work has recently begun and consists of replacing the current pipeline network with a new one due to the problems it presented. The mayor Ana Mula and the councilor for Infrastructure and the aforementioned neighborhood, José Sánchez, visited the work today.
“The updating of public infrastructure, and specifically, of underground services in our city is constant. In this case, we acted on the pipes on Reyes Católicos Street, which due to their age, presented several chronic problems that even affected their neighbors. Gestagua had to act continuously and it was necessary to intervene,” explained the councilor, who during a neighborhood meeting held before the summer committed to residents in the area to carry out the work as soon as possible.

In this way, the City Council has launched this action that has been awarded to the company Alpasa Obra Civil, SL for an amount of 180,762.08 euros -17,523.34 euros less than in the tender budget- and an execution period of 50 days, which turns out to be one week less than initially planned.
The intervention consists of the replacement of about 150 linear meters of supply, sanitation and stormwater pipes, specifically, in the section of this road between Colón and Juan Sebastián Elcano streets. Once the new pipelines have been introduced and are in operation, the successful bidder will cover the ditch and renew part of the road and the paving of the road itself.
In this way, as Mula has stressed, this action, fully financed by the municipal budget, will put an end to the previously mentioned problems that even affected several neighboring communities in the area.
