The Fuengirola City Council implements a video surveillance system at the main points of the city to strengthen security

In total there are 200, 37 of them located along the promenade, and allow to prevent possible risk situations, help in clarification of incidents and act against infractions related to traffic. This measure is part of the security reinforcement plan

8/25/2025 – The City of Fuengirola has implemented a video surveillance system at the main points of the city to reinforce security in its public spaces. Mayor Ana Mula together with the Councilor for Citizen Security, José Luis Ponce, and the mayor of Mobility, Isabel González, has supervised the operation of this device, which has about 200 cameras distributed in the main roads of the city, of which 37 are located on the Paseo Marítimo.

“The work to make Fuengirola an increasingly safe city is continuous. We live in a municipality with high levels of well -being and safety, although we are more and more and more of different nationalities. That also implies more circulation, both pedestrians and vehicles. And that requires more and more measures to reinforce road safety and prevention of possible risk situations,” explained the governor.

In this way, in Fuengirola about 200 camcorder have already been installed capable of detecting infractions related to road safety, as well as another kind of infractions, such as crimes. They are located in different parts of the city. In addition to the nightlife areas, they have been placed in areas of flood risk or in mouths of rivers and streams to obtain immediate information in case of climatic emergencies, reinforcing the prevention and response capacity of the City Council.

They have the specific purpose of strengthening public safety. For its installation, the express authorization of the Ministry of Interior has been counted, as appropriate by current regulations. These devices allow real -time monitoring and direct collaboration with the National Police in case of incidents, investigations or security needs.

They are also intended for mobility and safety on the roads. They allow to control traffic, study mobility patterns, detect traffic jams and, thanks to automatic registration reading, identify vehicles with expired ITV, without insurance or even stolen. All this with a very clear objective: to improve the road safety of drivers, pedestrians and users.

All cameras are connected to a control system and allow obtaining real -time information. Its use is activated when justified for safety reasons, emergencies or road incidents. The principle that guides the use of these tools is, as Mula has stressed, “responsible, useful and respectful of rights” of citizens.

“In summary, we have optimized public investment to achieve a versatile system, which meets all guarantees, designed to integrate into the most powerful road safety and citizen safety, and that, therefore, reinforces the sensation of well -being, which provides valuable information in emergencies and that increases the tranquility of neighbors and visitors,” Ana Mula concluded.
