The Fuengirola City Council promotes the economic development and social guarantee of the city with the 2026 municipal budget

They amount to 113.6 million euros, with an increase in investment of 63%, to start strategic projects such as the remodeling of the Santa Fe stadium and the creation of an underground parking lot. Taxes will be frozen, for another year, it will face the challenges of the city’s transformation and preserve the well-being of the population sectors that need it most

11/25/2025 – The Fuengirola City Council promotes the economic development of the city and the guarantee of social care for residents with the 2026 municipal budget. The mayor Ana Mula and the Councilor for Finance, Rosa Ana Bravo, have today presented the accounts that will govern the next year and that will be put to a vote for initial approval at the Municipal Plenary Session tomorrow, Wednesday, November 26.

The amount, both in income and expenses, amounts to 113,665,000 euros, which turns out to be 3.4% more than what is included in the economic document that is still in force in the present 2025. However, it is the investment chapter on which the councilor has placed special emphasis, since in addition to increasing its figure by 63% with respect to the current year, it will finance the start of important strategic projects that are electoral commitments of the current Government team, such as the tender for the drafting of the project and the work of the Santa Fe de Los Boliches-Antonio Basilio municipal stadium and the creation of an underground parking lot under its entire floor with capacity for about 1,000 vehicles, among other actions.

“Fuengirola has doubled its population during the last 30 years. From 41,713 in 1996, to the 85,959 currently registered registered residents. This progressive population increase has necessarily led to an increase in the annual budget because more services must be provided to serve that entire population. And we are doing so, at the same time, with taxes frozen, since 2008 – even lowering them by 2016-, but facing all the challenges that the transformation of Fuengirola requires and attending to all the social sectors that need the most help,” explained the highest Fuengirola authority.

In this way, along with the implementation of the aforementioned Government commitment, the accounts that will be submitted for consideration by the Municipal Corporation tomorrow include other initiatives such as the entry into operation of the Youth Center, the development of the Municipal Housing Plan, the Municipal Security Plan, the creation of more ecological islands or more improvement works on various facilities owned by the council.

“These budgets are the economic boost that the city needs for the consolidation of the New Fuengirola and that model of quality of life, generation of wealth, employment, progress and projection that we are all making together and that is placing our town as a national and international reference. But it is also the guarantee that no Fuengirolan who has it more difficult to get ahead is left without the support of his City Council, of his neighbors,” said Ana Mula.

In this sense, he has insisted that the allocation for social investment is “unlimited”, since, “if it were necessary to expand it to reach more families that need it, all appropriate modifications will be made” to give them the response they need.

No tax increase. Not even from the garbage

Mula has stressed that the 2026 accounts will once again keep taxes frozen, as has been the case since 2008, including the waste management tax, “because we are not going to apply the ‘garbage’ that the Government of Spain intends because the legal and technical reason supports us: with what we already pay we cover the cost of the service, and therefore, the people of Fuengirola do not have to suffer this blow.”

Likewise, he recalled that those registered will continue to benefit from the 30% discount on all municipal tax concepts and that the Fuengirola Real Estate Tax (IBI) has one of the lowest tax rates in the province.

“The money from the people of Fuengirola is to further reinforce the security, order, cleanliness and beautification of the city; to improve the quality of life of residents in all neighborhoods; to create more facilities and improve existing ones; to provide us with more and better work tools and public services; and also to help those who have the most difficulty getting ahead. All this is possible without raising taxes and this is how we will do it, as always, all together, in next 2026,” he said. concluded.
